Insulation is a term that is used to describe the process wherein heat or any form of energy is not transferred between the environment and an object. Insulating structural shapes are very common such as heat shields , thermal insulation panels , steel insulation , jackets and many other components such as equipment insulation. These components are not very economical due to their cost of production particularly high as they involve very expensive materials that are relatively rare. Thermally insulating structural members can be made from elements such as polyethylene, which has a very low thermal conductivity value. Using this material one can cut down the total cost of insulation to an extent.
